Term 1
Reading
The expectation is for every child to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each evening. Journals need to be signed and children will receive 2 house points for each day they read and an extra 5 house points for reading everyday within a week.
Reading books when returned to school will be placed in a container and quarantined before going out again.
Spellings
Weekly spellings will be provided on a Monday, with our weekly test taking place on a Friday. Year 6 children are expected to practice their spellings during the week, at home, to support and develop their spelling ability.
Times Tables
We will be practicing times tables throughout the year, where children will need to practice both in school and at home. All timetables, from 1-12, will be tested every Friday.
Children are expected to improve their accuracy, speed, understanding and recall of all 12 times tables.
PE
Year 6 have PE on a Thursday. The children will be getting changed in school, in separate classrooms. All children are required to take part in PE and they must have the correct school PE kit, they will also need a pair of trainers or plimsolls. For the winter months, they can also wear a pair of black jogging bottoms. If your child has an ear piercing please ensure that they can take them out themselves or that they are taken out before school. PE kits can be taken home each week or fortnightly to be washed. Please ensure they are then returned back to school, ready for the lesson for the following Thursday.
